Russia’s Kamaz to launch mass production of new generation engines in 2019

Kamaz is the world’s 16th biggest heavy duty truck manufacturer and the world’s eighths manufacturer of diesel engines

KAZAN, November 13. /TASS/. Russia’s biggest truck manufacturer Kamaz will launch mass production of new six-cylinder R6 engines in 2019, the press service of Tatarstan’s president said on Tuesday after a visit to Kamaz plants by Russia’s president’s envoy in the Volga federal district, Igor Komarov.

Kamaz is implementing the project for the production R6 engines in partnership with the Liebherr group. The 400-700HP R6 engines will fit into the Euro 5 and Euro 6 emissions standards. It is planned to use these engines in trucks of the K5 generation the production of which is to be kicked off in 2019.

"This year, we plan to roll out about 80 engines. Mass production will be launched next year," the press service quotes Kamaz Director General Sergei Kogogin as saying.

Kamaz is the world’s 16th biggest heavy duty truck manufacturer and the world’s eighths manufacturer of diesel engines. It incorporates 11 big automotive plants and auxiliary arms. Its biggest stakeholder is Russia’s state corporation Rostec (49.9%).
