Rosatom opens branch office in Japan

The Russian state nuclear company Rosatom has opened a representative office in Japan

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS /. The Russian state nuclear company Rosatom has opened a representative office in Japan, Rosatom Japan, the company said in a statement.

The new branch will contribute to the development of cooperation in such areas, as nuclear medicine and scientific collaboration in the field of fast-neutron reactors.

"We are optimistic about joint scientific work to reduce radioactive waste and clean up the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster," Rosatom’s First Deputy Director General Kirill Komarov was quoted as saying.

At the opening ceremony in Japan, Komarov noted that Tokyo has historically been one of Rosatom’s key foreign partners because the state nuclear company maintains a leading position in exports of uranium products to the country with nine of Japan’s ten energy companies buying these products.
