Russian organic food highly popular in China’s northeast, says ambassador

Andrey Denisov said Russia accounted for more than 70% of Heilongjiang’s foreign trade so far this year

BEIJING, November 12./TASS/. Russian organic products are highly popular in China’s northeast, and along with supplies of oil and gas from Russia they can be seen among promising trajectories for trade cooperation of the two countries, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov said on Monday.

"Green-labelled products from Russia are specifically popular in the northeast of China," the diplomat told a presentation of Heilongjiang province located in China’s northeast. "Our country holds a key position in the foreign economic ties of that province. According to official statistics, the Russian Federation accounted for more than 70% of Heilongjiang’s foreign trade in the first three quarters of 2018," the ambassador said.

Denisov reiterated that trade between Russia and that region of China exceeded an equivalent of 12.5 billion dollars over that period of time, demonstrating a record high growth of about 60%

Among the lucrative directions in cooperation between Russia and Northeast China, the ambassador listed the energy sector and supplies of Russian energy resources, construction of major infrastructure facilities. "The Russian Embassy to the People’s Republic of China will work on strengthening further mutually advantageous ties between Heilongjiang and regions of our country," he said.
