Yandex.Taxi enters Finland launching services in Helsinki on November 9

The service will be called Yango in Helsinki

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Yandex.Taxi on-demand taxi service provider will launch its services in Helsinki, Finland on Friday, November 9, the press service of Yandex.Taxi reported.

In the Finnish capital the service will be called Yango (short for Yandex go).

The company did not disclose the amount of investments in expanding the geography of its services.

The service will have the same application, which is fully compatible with the Yandex.Taxi application.

"Arriving in Helsinki for the weekend, residents of Russia and other countries will not need to install new applications on their smartphones," the company said.

A representative with the company’s press service told TASS that, at the moment, Yango will be available both in central Helsinki and its outer-lying residential districts and the company plans to expand its presence to the nearest populated areas.

The representative of Yandex.Taxi noted that in Finland the service will work with companies licensed to provide taxi services, as well as with individual entrepreneurs.

Yandex.Taxi, a leading on-demand taxi service provider operating in more than 600 cities across Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Serbia, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Russia and other countries and quickly expanding to other markets worldwide. The service was started in 2011 by Yandex, Russia's largest internet search engine and one of Europe’s largest internet technology companies.

In March, Yandex.Taxi was launched in Riga, Latvia. Before that, the service was not available to users in any country of the European Union. In May, Yandex.Taxi started operating in Tallinn, Estonia, and in June it entered the Serbian market.
