Trilateral gas meeting of Russia, EU and Ukraine may be held in second half of November

The first round of trilateral consultations was held in Brussels in mid-September

SVETLOGORSK, October 23. /TASS/. The trilateral gas meeting of Russia, the EU and Ukraine may take place in the second half of November, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Tuesday.

"The date has not yet been finalized so far. It will be probably in the second half of November," Novak said.

The first round of trilateral technical consultations on shipments of Russian gas through Ukraine was held in Brussels on September 12-13. The parties discussed key aspects of gas transportation contracts applied in the EU, tariff formation and reforming the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system in accordance with the legislation and international obligations of Ukraine under the Association Agreement with the EU. The second meeting at the technical level was held on September 26.

The agreement on gas supply to Ukraine and gas transit via Ukraine signed between Russian gas holding Gazprom and Kiev expires in late 2019. The continuation of transit of Russian gas after 2019 is also discussed in the context of the planned construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, which will bypass the transit states.
