Draft law limiting foreign participation in news aggregators pertains to Google, Yandex

Accorвing to the bill, the share of foreign participation in the news aggregator should be limited to 20%

MOSCOW, October 22. /TASS/. Russian-language news aggregators Google and Yandex will fall under the draft law limiting participation of foreigners in news aggregators ownership structure, submitted to the State Duma on Monday, co-author of the initiative and State Duma representative Anton Gorelkin told TASS on Monday.

"Certainly, this is Yandex, this is Google. They have news services and foreign participation in these companies is above 20%," Gorelkin said. The norm contained in the draft law pertains to news aggregators exactly and not to search engines, he noted. "The line should be drawn between the search engine and the news aggregator. We speak about the news aggregators here," Gorelkin added.
