Divorce battle may leave major newspaper boss with half of his near $400 mln fortune

A source told TASS that the disputed property was worth a total of $398 mln

MOSCOW, August 22. /TASS/. The wife of Pavel Gusev, the Chief Editor of Moscow’s Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, is demanding that their marital property be divided, Spokesman for Moscow’s Presnensky District Court Alexei Chernikov told TASS.

"The court has registered Yevgeniya Yefimova’s lawsuit against Pavel Gusev concerning the division of their marital property. A closed-door hearing is scheduled for August 23," he said.

A source told TASS that the disputed property was worth a total of 27 bln rubles ($398 mln). According to him, experts price the couple’s real estate assets at 1.5 bln rubles ($22 mln), while the property owned by disputed business entities is worth the same amount. "This includes a residential facility and 11 non-residential premises in Moscow, two residential houses in Ramenki, in the Moscow Region, two land plots in the Chekhovsky District and nine land lots in the Odintsovsky District of the Moscow Region," the source added.

Besides, Gusev’s wife demands that their stockholdings in companies and her husband’s shares also be divvyed up, which she estimates at 30 bln rubles ($442 mln). "The plaintiff demands that the stock of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, the MK publishing house, the Fregat and MK Media-Service be divided," the source said.

In addition, the wife demands that Gusev be evicted from his apartment on Maly Kozikhinsky Street in Moscow and pay reimbursement for using the marital property.
