Kola nuclear power plant hits 7-year production record

The Kola NPP is 200 km south of Murmansk on the Imandra Lake

MURMANSK, August 10. /TASS/. The Kola Nuclear Power Plant in the Murmansk Region in July hit the production record of recent 7 years - it produced electric energy of more than 645 million kWh, the plant’s press service said.

"In July 2018, the Kola NPP by two units produced 645.8 million kWh, which is a maximum production in July over recent seven years," the press service said.

The plant produced by 27.2 million kWh more energy in July than in June, 2018. The power plant has produced 5.7 billion kWh in the current year.

Presently, the power plant’s units number 2 and 3 are working, and units 1 and 4 undergo maintenance.

The Kola NPP is 200 km south of Murmansk on the Imandra Lake. It produces about 60% of electric energy in the Murmansk Region. The plant’s four units are 440 MW each. The Kola NPP supplies electric energy to the Murmansk Region and Karelia.
