St. Petersburg to host World Energy Congress in 2022

Bids for the tender were also presented by Portugal and the US

MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. Russia won the right to host the World Energy Congress in 2022, the World Energy Council says on Tuesday.

The Congress will be held in St. Petersburg. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak extended an appreciation to Forum organizers for choosing Russia and stressed importance of a "non-political dialogue in such an important sector as energy."

Bids for the tender were also presented by Portugal and the United States.

The previous congress was held in Istanbul in 2016 and the next one will be in Abu Dhabi in 2019.

The World Energy Congress is one of the leading international events for energy leaders across the globe to address the challenges of sustainable energy supplies and review industry trends.
