Rosatom sees no threat to its interests from US probe of uranium imports

MOSCOW, July 19. /TASS/. Tenex, the trading affiliate of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, does not supply natural uranium to the United States and sees no threat to its interests in connection with the probe into uranium imports launched in the US, Tenex told TASS on Thursday.
"The main goal of the petition is to protect US producers of natural uranium, which is not supplied from Russia to the US. Therefore, we do not see a direct threat to our interests from this initiative," the company said.

It was reported earlier that two American companies dealing with uranium ore mining - UR-Energy and Energy Fuels - petitioned the US Department of Commerce to initiate a trade probe into imports of foreign subsidized uranium into the United States from foreign state-owned companies. The US government launched an investigation after US federal agencies, members of Congress and industry players reviewed the petition.
