Participants of 20th China-EU summit to discuss closer cooperation

The meeting will focus on the state and prospects of developing Chinese-European cooperation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported

BEIJING, July 16. /TASS/. Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang will meet with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker during the 20th China-EU summit to discuss key issues on the global agenda. The meeting will focus on the state and prospects of developing Chinese-European cooperation, measures to protect multilateral mechanisms and provide support for trade and investments, as well as the coordination of mutual positions in response to heavy international challenges, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported.

"The leaders will map out further plans of joint development and make coordinating moves for this purpose," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said, commenting on the upcoming forum. "Both China and the European Union are interested in supporting peace, stability and development across the globe."

Li Keqiang earlier noted that China’s authorities "are sure that the bilateral summit with the EU will be productive.".
