Turnover between Russia and Hungary grew by 25% in Q1 2018 - Putin

The relations between the two countries are developing in a positive way, Russian President added

MOSCOW, July 15. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Hungary for the first three months of 2018 grew by 25%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his meeting with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.

"You have fulfilled your promise, came to the World Cup final. This is not surprising, since we all know you love football, we know you as a good footballer," he said. "I hope you enjoy the sporting event today," Putin said, noting that he was happy to discuss the current agenda.

According to the Russian leader, the relations between Russia and Hungary are developing in a positive way. "Last year, the trade turnover grew by 25%, even slightly more, according to our data. This year it is also growing at the same rate in the first quarter," Putin said, adding that the revenues of Hungarian partners working in the Russia market are also growing.

The president also stated that all major bilateral projects in the energy and nuclear energy sectors are being implemented as planned. Putin noted that Russia and Hungary are connected by diversified relations, and cooperation is developing not only in the fuel and energy complex, but also in the pharmaceuticals, machinery and other sectors of the economy. "One of your companies in supply and production of medicine occupies 4% in the Russian market," Putin said, adding that this is a very good figure.

In turn, Prime Minister of Hungary noted the high level of organization of the World Cup in Russia. He said that besides visiting sporting events, he was able to carve out several days in his schedule to spend them in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
