Gazprom considering opportunity to increase gas supplies to China over Power of Siberia

According to Gazprom’s forecast, the demand for pipeline gas supplies to China can range from 80 to 110 bln cubic meters by 2035

ST. PETERSBURG, June 29. /TASS/. Gazprom does not rule out an increase in natural gas supplies to China over the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in future and such an option is considered, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian gas holding Alexei Miller said on Friday.

"I can say that field infrastructure will be developed timely, the resource base will be prepared and new gas transport capacities will appear after we assume commitments on volumes and timeframe for supply of such volumes. An opportunity also exists in general terms to boost gas deliveries to China and use the Power of Siberia gas transport corridor further one. We do not exclude such an opportunity; we also take it into consideration," Miller said.

The term sheet for gas supplies from the Far East was signed with China’s CNPC last year, the top manager said. "We do not have a fixed date we have set for ourselves to sign the contract. Work on the contract continues," Miller added.

According to Gazprom’s forecast, the demand for pipeline gas supplies to China can range from 80 to 110 bln cubic meters by 2035, he said.
