PM Medvedev urges legislative regulation for certification of Russian exporters

The prime minister noted that most developed economies use similar practice

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. The Russian authorities should legislatively determine the procedure to certify Russian exporters of agricultural products, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday.

According to him, the inclusion of the enterprise in the register of exporters will mean that its products are controlled by the importing country.

Speaking at a meeting on quality control of agricultural exports, Medvedev said:

"We need to legislatively regulate the mechanism for certification of Russian exporting enterprises. When exporting goods that are subject to state veterinary supervision, one must comply with veterinary requirements of the importing country," he said.

The prime minister noted that most developed economies use similar practice.

At the same time, the register should not become a new administrative barrier, Medvedev said.

"An entrepreneur should be given an opportunity to decide voluntarily whether he wants to be included in such a register, or not," the Prime Minister added.
