Russian PM says state should keep economic regulation tools

MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. The state should not lose the main tools of economic regulation, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the program "Vesti v Subboty (Saturday News) with Sergey Brilev.

"Of course, the market is based on the initiative of private persons, and our market economy should rest on it, which does not mean that the state should lose certain key tools," he said.

According to Medvedev, any country has the issue of balance between state regulation and private ownership, balance between state ownership and sole proprietorship on the agenda. "In each particular historical period the balance between state ownership and private initiative, regulation of the private market may be different," he said, adding that Russia’s government was forced to take on-the-spot decisions to rescue some sectors after anti-Russia sanctions were imposed, which changed the situation on the energy market.
