Russia, Saudi Arabia may sign energy agreements at SPIEF

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held on May 24-26

JEDDAH, April 20. /TASS/. Russia and Saudi Arabia may sign agreements on energy on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.

Speaking on the margins of a meeting of the OPEC + monitoring committee he said:

"We signed a road map with Saudi Arabia to implement 26 joint projects in energy sector. I think that some of these agreements can be signed in the near future, in particular on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum."

In February 14, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said that Saudi Arabia's national oil company Saudi Aramco will sign a partnership agreement with the Russian LNG project.

"We do not disclose details until it (the signing) is announced," he added.

In December 2017, the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Khalid Al-Falih took part in the opening of the Yamal LNG plant in Russia’s Arctic region.

Earlier in an interview with TASS, he said that Saudi Arabia would study the possibility of participating in the Arctic LNG project.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held on May 24-26, 2018.
