US experts conducted two inspections in Russia under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty in the past seven days

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Russian jets were scrambled four times in the past week to intercept foreign aircraft near the country’s borders, the Russian Defense Ministry said in its weekly statistics published by the Krasnaya Zvezda daily on Friday.

In total, 22 foreign aircraft were conducting aerial surveillance along Russia’s borders in the reported period.

Moreover, three vessels were conducting surveillance missions along the country’s maritime borders.

US experts conducted two inspections in Russia under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) in the past seven days. Russian military experts conducted two foreign inspections in the reported period: one was carried in the US under the New START treaty and the other in Norway under the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on confidence- and security-building measures.
