MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. Aircraft designer Ivan Mikoyan, the nephew of the legendary Soviet developer of MiG combat planes Artyom Mikoyan has died in Moscow aged 89, the Russian Defense Ministry’s TV Channel Zvezda reported on Friday.
"Ivan Mikoyan worked for the whole of his life at the design bureau that had been founded by his uncle Artyom Mikoyan in 1939. He worked as a leading engineer and a deputy chief designer," the TV Channel said in a statement.
Ivan Mikoyan was among the developers of the MiG-29 multi-purpose fighter jet. Up to the end of his life, he continued working as an adviser for Russia’s MiG Aircraft Corporation, the statement said.
