Batch of Sukhoi-35 fighter jets ready for duty in western Russia

The fighter jets are armed with a 30-mm gun and twelve bomb and rocket suspensions

MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. A batch of Sukhoi-35C fighters is about to enter duty at an air force regiment of the Western Military District, the district’s press-service has announced.

"The flight personnel and technicians of an aviation regiment of the Western Military District have completed acceptance procedures at the aircraft-building plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The pilots are finalizing preparations for flying the first batch of fighter jets to a base in the Republic of Karelia. In the meantime, a group of engineers and technicians have begun receiving the second batch of planes," the news release says.

The Sukhoi-35 is Russia’s multi-role highly maneuverable fighter jet of generation 4++, which is equipped with variable thrust engines.

It can develop a maximum speed of 2,500 kilometers per hour and fly up to 3,400 kilometers without refueling. Its combat radius is about 1,600 kilometers. The fighter is armed with a 30-mm gun and twelve bomb and rocket suspensions.
