Kondopoga assault ship joins Northern Fleet detachment in Arctic

MURMANSK, September 26. /TASS/. A detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet, which is on an Arctic mission, on Monday met on the border of the Barents and Kara seas with the Kondopoga large amphibious assault ship, the fleet’s press service reported.

"A few days ago, the Kondopoga large amphibious assault ship completed participation in a scheduled drill of an all-arms force in the Barents Sea and now joined the expedition of the detachment," the statement said.

Then, the Northern Fleet’s detachment led by the Vice-Admiral Kulakov destroyer will continue its expedition in northern areas of the Barents Sea jointly with the Kondopoga.

The Arctic expedition of the Northern Fleet’s detachment of ships and vessels started August 30. It became the fifth large expedition of Russian navy sailors to the Arctic over the past few years.
