MOSCOW, September 19. /TASS/. Russian Aerospace Defense Forces’ Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bombers have flown from the Novosibirsk Region to an air base in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the international anti-terrorist drills of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries, the press service of the Central Military District said on Monday.

"Long-range supersonic bombers Tu-22M3 of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces flew from the Tolmachevo aerodrome in the Novosibirsk Region to the Kant air base (Kyrgyzstan) to participate in the joint military anti-terrorist drills of the armed forces of member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization ‘Peaceful Mission - 2016’," the press service said. During the active phase of maneuvers, the bombers will practice delivering airstrikes at base camps and facilities of illegal armed groups.

The "Peace Mission - 2016" drills take place on September 15-21 at the Edelveis training center in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Region. Among participants are military contingents from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
