KUBINKA/MOSCOW REGION/, September 6. /TASS/. The main phase of testing the new aircraft of Russia's sole aircraft carrier, The Admiral Kuznetsov, is expected to be completed this year, Russian Naval Aviation commander Igor Kozhin told TASS Tuesday.

The tests of the renewed air group of the aircraft carrier, including MiG-29K/KUB fighters and the Kamov Ka-52K combat helicopters, started this summer.

The commander has so far praised the performance of the new MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets.

It was earlier reported that The Admiral Kuznetsov would set off on a mission lasting at least three months in autumn. A military-diplomatic source in Moscow told TASS in July that the deck aircraft of the carrier would participate in delivering strikes against militants in Syria from an eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea in October 2016 - January 2017.
