Russia to use Yars ICBM launchers first time in chemical troops’ special drills

The drills are also designed to "practice missions for aerosol screen countermeasures in the deployment areas of missile formations"

MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Mobile ground missile complexes RS-24 Yars of the Russian Strategic Missile Force’s Teikovskaya division will be involved for the first time in special drills of radiological, chemical and biological protection troops, the press office of the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"During the drills, the units of the Strategic Missile Force and the Western Military District will assess the radiological, chemical and biological situation at notionally contaminated facilities, decontaminate armament and military hardware, including Yars mobile launchers, the contaminated terrain and people," the ministry said in a statement obtained by TASS.

The drills are also designed to "practice missions for aerosol screen countermeasures in the deployment areas of missile formations," the press office said.

Also, radiological, chemical and biological protection troops will practice eliminating the consequences of notional emergencies and man-made disasters, the press office said.
