MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. More than 3,000 signal troops of Russia’s Western Military District are involved in command-staff exercises underway in the Leningrad, Moscow and Voronezh regions, the district spokesman Igor Muginov said on Thursday.

"The exercise is carried out under the overall supervision of the Signals Commander of the Western Military District. The drills involve more than 3,000 servicemen and 500 mobile communications systems and stations", he said.

According to the military district spokesman, the exercise participants will use modern digital radio-relay stations, mobile video conferencing systems, new medium- and high-power radio stations, and satellite communications systems. Separate units will make many-kilometer marches. "It is planned to deploy more than 30 field units and standalone communication stations", Muginov said.
