MOSCOW, June 9. /TASS/. Another round of Russian-US consultations on implementation of the 1972 agreement regulating the prevention of incidents on high seas and in the skies over them was held in Moscow on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry’s information department has said.
In the course of the conference, the sides discussed the situations pertaining to the actions of ship and aircraft crews on high seas and in the skies above them that fall under provisions of the agreement, the ministry’s report said.
"Upon the completion of scrutiny, recommendations on prevention of incidents and on enhancing the safety of navigation on and flights over high seas were drawn up," it said. "Emphasis was made on the use of authorized signals and communication channels."
"The Russian side presented proposals on developing the mechanism of incident prevention and on the adaptation of the agreement to the current situation," the report said.
