HMEIMIM /Latakia, Syria/, April 22. /TASS/. Russian warplanes made no flights over Damascus and its suburbs on Friday, a spokesman for the Khmeimim airbase, the home base of the Russian air group in Syria, said.
"Russian warplanes did not fly near Damascus and its suburbs today. All planes of the Russian air group are at the Hmeimim airbase," the spokesman said.
Western media reported earlier on Friday that a warplane crashed near Damascus in an area controlled by Islamic State gunmen. Later, Sky News Arabia said it was a fighter jet of the Syrian air forces. However no details of the type of the plane or the causes of the crash were provided.
