VLADIVOSTOK, March 30. /TASS/. Crews of the Russian Pacific Fleet detachment comprising the Admiral Vinogradov destroyer, the Photius Krylov marine rescue ship and the Irkut tanker, while passing through the Korea Strait, laid a wreath over the water in memory of Russian sailors who lost their lives in the 1905 Battle of Tsushima, a major naval battle fought during the Russo-Japanese war, Pacific Fleet spokesman Roman Martov told TASS on Wednesday.

"The detachment made a brief stop in the vicinity of the historic battle of Russian and Japanese squadrons where the traditional ceremony to pay homage to the fallen heroes was held. There were memorial meetings and crew line-ups on all the vessels forming part of the detachment. After that, a wreath was laid over the water from the Admiral Vinogradov destroyer," Martov said.

He noted that the detachment performed routine tasks in the one of Pacific Ocean areas. The vessels earlier practiced maneuvering while on their way to the Sea of Japan. Besides, training sessions of the anti-terror unit and shipboard damage control exercises were held aboard the Admiral Vinogradov destroyer.
