ULAN-UDE, March 4. /TASS/. The motorized infantry formation of Russia’s Eastern Military District was alerted on Friday within a surprise combat readiness inspection, the district’s press service reported.

"In total, the exercise involves about 3,000 troops and about 1,000 units of military, special and automobile equipment", spokesman for the Eastern Military District Alexander Gordeyev said. According to him, the alerted troops conducted marches on their vehicles to the staging area and started field drills.

"The combat readiness check involves motorized infantry, tank, artillery units, as well as air defense units," the press service said.

A special commission of the district’s headquarters will assess the level of combat readiness and combat capability, as well as the state of the troops materiel, arms and military equipment.
