MOSCOW, January 22 /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry has described as "absolute nonsense" reports appearing in foreign social networks that the Turkish Air Force has hit another Russian warplane.
"These reports are absolute nonsense. All our planes which are destroying terrorist infrastructure in Syria have safely returned to an air base," Russian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov told journalists on Friday.
He said that about 50 journalists from leading foreign media outlets of the United States; Britain, France, Italy, China, Vietnam and other countries had visited the Hmeymim air base. It would have been impossible to conceal that fact from them, Konashenkov said.
"Now they have seen the true worth of these false speculations, which various "sofa analysts" regularly church out in Western media," the general added.
Some social networks have published a report referring to "Syrian activists" that the Turkish Air Force had allegedly shot down a Russian warplane near the Bab al-Hawa command center.
