The surprise combat readiness check involves motorized infantry, tank, artillery and air defense units.
"In total, more than 2,000 military and around 400 units of combat, special and automobile equipment have been involved," the head of the press service, Alexander Gordeyev, said.
The servicemen were deployed to the firing ranges in the designated areas. "They will accomplish training and combat tasks there," the press service said.
