Final combat readiness check beginning in Russian armed forces

One of the main final military "exams" for 2015 training year will involve some 300 formations, military units, command and control organisations and departments of the Russian Defence Ministry

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. A major final combat readiness inspection is beginning in the Russian army on Monday, a Russian Defence Ministry spokesman said. According to him, the check will involve about 300 units and formations across the country.

"Company and battalion tactical exercises with live firing will be conducted in the units and formations of the Armed Forces during the final check. The check will thus summarise the combat training results of each individual unit and the Armed Forces as a whole," he said.

One of the main final military "exams" for 2015 training year will involve some 300 formations, military units, command and control organisations and departments of the Russian Defence Ministry.

The first stage of the final combat inspection is scheduled for the period from October 5 to 16, and the second stage for the last 10 days of October.

"All the military serving from Kaliningrad to the Kuril Islands will undergo the comprehensive checks for all types of training - combat, technical, weapons proficiency and others," said the Russian defence source.

However, troops of the Central Military District, as well as a number of formations and military units who have completed training and combat tasks within the framework of the Center-2015 strategic command post exercise will not be checked. Some units of the Airborne Forces and Aerospace Forces will not be inspected as well, the spokesman said.

"The formations and military units that are freed from the final check, will have their own drills managed by their commanders during which they will practice firing their service weapons, as well as pass physical training tests," said the Defence Ministry official.

In the period from December 2014 to September 2015, the Russian troops have conducted about 2,000 tactical exercises of different levels.
