MURMANSK, September 28. /TASS/. A group of warships and support vessels of Russia’s Northern Fleet is preparing to pass the Vilkitsky Strait, separating the Taimyr Peninsula and the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago, in difficult ice conditions, the Russian Navy’s press service reported on Monday.

"Previously, the group of ships left the Arctic Stakhanovtsev Gulf near the Kotelny Island and crossed the Laptev Sea to the west," the press service said.
The group of warships and support vessels is accompanied by the Yamal atomic icebreaker. The crews have previously conducted drills for the passage of bottlenecks, navigation after the icebreaker in low visibility and adverse weather conditions. The air group personnel on board the Severomorsk large antisubmarine ship is prepared to fly on the ice reconnaissance mission along the voyage route.
The Northern Fleet’s group of warships and support vessels has covered about 2,800 miles during the voyage.
