MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. The Moskva missile-carrying cruiser, one of the major ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, has joined the permanent grouping of ships the Russian Navy keeps in the Mediterranean, Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachov, the chief of the Black Sea Fleet’s information service told TASS on Friday.
"On Friday, the missile-carrying cruiser Moskva completed the passage through the Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits and joined the Russian naval grouping in the Mediterranean," he said.
This is third time this year that the cruiser performs a mission in off-shore maritime zones.
The task of the mission is participation on the war games as a ship assigned to a Russian naval detachment in the eastern sector of the Mediterranean, Capt Trukhachov explained.
The cruiser will house the staff of the expedition during the first phase of the war games in the first half of October. Members of the staff will exercise commanding and controlling functions.
