Year's largest military drills to kick off in Russia

The exercise will unite under single command dozens of thousands of troops of all the types and branches of the armed forces

MOSCOW, September 14. /TASS/. The Center-2015 strategic command and staff drills involving tens of thousands of servicemen is due to start on Monday in Russia’s Urals, the commander of the Central Military District has said.

"The exercise will unite under single command dozens of thousands of troops of all the types and branches of the armed forces, and other power-wielding ministries and agencies that are to act on several firing ranges of Russia and abroad and perform special, research and other tasks," Vladimir Zarudnitsky said.

The maneuvers will become the largest combat training event of the year, he said. The troops will practise use of advanced automatic communications and control systems, mobilized deployment and check the organization of territorial defense.

Prior to the Center-2015, the servicemen of the Central Military District carried out exercises on organizing comprehensive support.
