Defense minister: About 30 army units formed in Russia’s Western Military District in 2015

MOSCOW, September 11. /TASS/. About 30 army units have been formed in Russia’s Western Military Districts since the beginning of the year, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Friday.

"Works are continued in the Western Military District to improve the composition of troops and the system of their deployment. In all, about 30 army units have been formed in the current year," he said.

"In 2015, the Western Military District received more than 2,000 units of new and modernized hardware, including state-of-the-art tanks, armoured vehicles, communications and control devices," Shoigu said, adding that more than 18,000 had joined the army on the contract basis, or more than 64% of the plan for this year.
