Russian Defense Ministry keeps strengthening nation’s defenses — General Staff

Valery Gerasimov specified that "the Armed Forces increased their combat potential, improved training and methods of command and control of troops and weapons"

MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry continues planned activities to strengthen the country's defense capabilities, the chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, has said.

"In the emerging situation, the Defense Ministry continues planned activities for strengthening the country's defense capabilities. During the year, the Armed Forces increased their combat potential, improved training and methods of command and control of troops and weapons, as well as armed troops with advanced models of weapons and military equipment," Gerasimov told a news briefing for foreign military attaches on the results of the Russian Defense Ministry's activities in 2023.

Gerasimov recalled that in accordance with the decision of the supreme commander-in-chief, President Vladimir Putin, Russia "continued to gradually build up the composition and size of the armed forces and their standard strength was increased to 1 million 320 thousand men."
