US biolabs in third countries pose threat to whole regions — Defense Ministry

"As we have repeatedly noted, the placement of the most dangerous research facilities outside national territory is part of the United States' biological security strategy," Igor Kirillov stressed

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. The placement of US biological facilities in third countries ignores the interests of the local population and poses a threat to entire regions, the chief of the Russian Armed Forces' radiation, chemical and biological protection force, Igor Kirillov, said on Friday.

"As we have repeatedly noted, the placement of the most dangerous research facilities outside national territory is part of the United States' biological security strategy. The placement of biological facilities in third countries does not take into account the interests of the local population and poses a serious threat to entire regions," he told a news briefing on the analysis of documents concerning US military-biological activities.

Kirillov noted that in late February 2023, Gary Granger, the International Secretary of the Worker’s Party of Ireland, speaking at a conference titled Increasing Threat of the Use of Biological Weapons by NATO in a Situation of Escalation of International Contradictions said that the risk such weapons of mass destruction might be used was growing with every passing day.

"Granger mentioned that Ukraine has US-funded biological laboratories, which could lead to millions of casualties, including those resulting from the risk of an accident," Kirillov said.
