Russia, Laos agree to expand military cooperation

On April 23-25, the Eighth Moscow Conference on International Security is held in the Russian capital

MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/. The Russian and Lao defense ministries have agreed on the areas of expanding military cooperation between both countries, the Lao Defense Minister Chansamone Chanyalath said on the outcomes of the talks with his Russian colleague Sergei Shoigu on the sidelines of the Moscow International Conference on International Security.

"We have agreed on the areas of strengthening cooperation in the military spheres between the defense ministries of Laos and Russia," the minister said, noting Russia’s help to Laos in the humanitarian demining process.

The Eighth Moscow Conference on International Security is held on April 23-25. The agenda includes crucial issues related to international security, and the sides will exchange views on modern military dangers and threats, including improving the arms control system. The participants will also hash over the situation in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The defense ministers from at least 35 countries and more than 1,000 experts from over 100 countries are taking part in the event.
