Russian Baltic Fleet aircraft destroy enemy warships in drills

The drills for spotting and destroying the enemy naval group involved 14 fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft of the Fleet’s aviation, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles

KALININGRAD, April 5. /TASS/. The crews of the Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation, including Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jets, Su-24M bombers and Mil Mi-24 helicopters practiced missions to destroy a group of a notional enemy’s warships in drills, the Fleet’s press office reported on Friday.

"Su-30SM multirole fighters, Su-24M frontline bombers and Mi-24 attack helicopters performed combat assignments at the naval ranges of the Baltic Fleet to breach the air defenses of the group of the notional enemy’s warships and deliver a missile and bomb strike," the statement says.

The drills for spotting and destroying the enemy naval group involved 14 fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft of the Fleet’s aviation, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the press office said.

The pilots approached the targets from various directions while maneuvering by the speed and the altitude. The Baltic Fleet corvettes Boiky, Stoiky, Soobrazitelny and Steregushchiy simulated the enemy naval group in the drills.

"The crews of Su-30SM multirole fighters and Su-24M frontline bombers dropped bombs from medium and low altitudes against sea screens simulating a group of the notional enemy’s warships. The pilots of Mi-24 attack helicopters practiced delivering strikes against sea targets, firing missiles of the Shturm-V missile system," the press office said.

Data recording equipment confirmed that all the targets had been destroyed and the results of direct hits were confirmed visually with the help of drones, the Fleet’s press office said.
