More than 1,000 servicemen take part in Russian-Abkhaz drills

More than 1,000 servicemen from the two countries and more than 200 pieces of military equipment were involved in the exercise

ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 17. /TASS/. Joint actions in the mountains and in the Black Sea area were trained during Russian-Abkhaz drills. More than 1,000 servicemen from the two countries and more than 200 pieces of military and special equipment were involved in the exercise, the press service of the Southern Military District reported.

"The personnel of the Russian military base and servicemen of the Abkhaz Ministry of Defense carried out integrated tactical drills to train cooperation when repelling ‘enemy’ attacks," the press service said in the report.

Throughout the week, the motorized infantry performed the tasks to defend mountain-woody and coastal areas at the Tsabal and Nagvalou Ranges in Abkhazia with support from the artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.

A demonstration exercise on all military disciplines was also held for the Abkhaz militaries. In particular, the servicemen trained to evacuate the injured from an armored personnel carrier and provide primary medical care.
