Italian defense minister stresses need for dialogue with Russia

Italian Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta has held a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during which she stressed the need to maintain constant dialogue with Russia, a source in the defense ministry told TASS on Thursday.

"Minister Trenta has held a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, and during the talks, she stressed the need to maintain constant dialogue with Russia," the source stated.

Stoltenberg arrived in Italy in order to participate in the Mediterranean Dialogues international conference. Along with Trenta, he made a speech during the plenary session dedicated to the issues of security after the defeat of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia). In her speech, the Italian minister noted the danger of the so-called sleeping terrorist cells.
