Post-Soviet security bloc peacekeepers, Red Cross train to receive refugees at drills

YEKATERINBURG, November 2. /TASS/. Servicemen of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Interior Ministry’s employees and representatives for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have worked out joint actions to receive and accommodate "refugees" at a camp during the active phase of the drills "Enduring Brotherhood-2018" carried out by the CSTO’s Joint Peacekeeping Forces. The press service of the Central Military District reported about it on Friday.

"According to the exercise scenario, contingents from the CSTO states are carrying out a peacekeeping operation on the territory of a ‘state,’ which is not part of the Organization. A camp was set up to receive refugees, and it can accommodate up to 100 people and has all that is necessary for living; a checkpoint and accommodation and food service areas were established. An aid convoy of the International Committee of the Red Cross delivered humanitarian cargoes for the ‘refugees,’" the press service said.

The Interior Ministry employees checked the arrived "refugees" under the Interstate Information Database. "The mobile versatile professional complex Papillon-M was set up for urgent identification, which makes electronic dactylograms and photos of appearance, distinguishing features and documents. The military police of the Central Military District examined the arrived refugees. As, according to the scenario of the drills, the camp was set up in a Muslim country, women are examined by female officers," the press service explained.

The military contingents from six CSTO member states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan - as well as an operation group of the CSTO Joint Headquarters, police forces and departments of the emergencies ministries of these countries are taking part in the "Enduring Brotherhood-2018," which started on October 30 and will run until November 2 in the Sverdlovsk Region. Russia is represented by servicemen from the Central Military District. About 1,300 people in total are taking part in the maneuvers, along with 300 vehicles, 20 aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles.
