Some 6,000 servicemen take part in major tactical drills in south Russia

The exercise also involved about 2,000 pieces of military hardware

ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 17. /TASS/. A major tactical exercise, involving about 6,000 servicemen, including motorized infantry, navy and aviation units, has ended in South Russia, Southern Military District press service chief Vadim Astafyev said on Friday.

The exercise, which began on August 1, took place at 20 training grounds in the Russian regions of Volgograd, Rostov, Kuban, Stavropol and Crimea, North Caucasus republics of Adyghea, North Ossetia, Dagestan and Ingushetia, as well as at Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.

The exercise also involved about 2,000 pieces of military hardware.
