About 100,000 people visit Black Sea port Sevastopol for Navy Day

A performance featuring the history of the Black Sea Fleet was part of the celebrations

SEVASTOPOL, July 29./TASS/. About 100,000 people have visited the Black Sea port of Sevastopol on Navy Day, marked across Russia on Sunday, Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov told reporters.

"We have a lot of guests, this is a true holiday for us. We estimate that about 100,000 people have visited Sevastopol for the celebrations," the governor said.

A naval parade and a military sports festival have taken place in Sevastopol on Sunday. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev attended the events.

More than 30 warships, submarines and boats, five auxiliary vessels, more than 20 aircraft and over 30 units of military hardware participated.

A performance featuring the history of the Black Sea Fleet was part of the celebrations.

Sevastopol is home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
