Russian officers deliver aid to Syria’s southernmost settlement

More than 4 tonnes of food and 15 tonnes of water were distributed

DAMASCUS, July 10. /TASS/. Russian military servicemen have delivered humanitarian aid to Syria’s southernmost inhabited community of al-Mutaya, which has joined the reconciliation process in the Daraa province, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides reported.

Essential goods were distributed not far from the inhabited community. More than 4 tonnes of food and 15 tonnes of water were distributed. Security was maintained by Russian military police and Syrian troops.

"Today we brought the items, which will help them overcome the hardships experienced today by such remote settlements that had been under the control of militants for many years," the center’s Chief Major-General Alexei Tsygankov told reporters.

He noted that the inhabited community was facing a humanitarian disaster because of militants’ actions who refused to provide access to relief aid in the areas controlled by them.
