Annual classical music festival to open in Moscow

The festival will start on Monday evening with "The Art of Seduction. Music and Word"

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. The line-up of the annual Moscow Classical Music Festival, set to take place from December 10, 2018 to January 9, 2019, will include classical music, jazz and theater plays for adults and children, deputy head of the Moscow International Arts Performing Center Yevgeny Chernikov said.

"The Moscow Festival of Classical Music is taking place at the Moscow International Arts Performing Center for the eighth time, this is our traditional gift to Moscow residents and visitors for winter holidays - Catholic Christmas, the New Year, the Orthodox Christmas," Chernikov noted.

The festival will start on Monday evening with "The Art of Seduction. Music and Word", a performance by Italian bandeonist Mario Pietrodarchi, famous opera singers Sergey Pisarev and Vladimir Baturkin, popular theatre and film actor Vladimir Skvortsov and the Moscow City Symphony - Russian Philharmonic.

On December 21, Russian jazz performers Daniil Kramer and Denis Mazhukov will play "Jazz and Roll for Two Pianos", while the younger audience can enjoy "The Winter's Tale or the Story of Kai and Gerda", a musical by the Academy of Children's Musical.

The festival will close on January 9 with a performance by Russian organ player Alexei Semenov, who will play the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Max Reger, Louis Vierne and contemporary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.
