Just Party leader says Russian air companies should buy Russian

Sergei Mirnonov, the leader of the Just Russia Party, suggests that Russian air companies should take an inventory of their airliner fleets and should start buying domestic-made aircraft

MOSCOW, November 19, 1:19 /ITAR-TASS/. Sergei Mirnonov, the leader of the Just Russia Party, suggests that Russian air companies should take an inventory of their airliner fleets and should start buying domestic-made aircraft.

Commenting on the disaster at Kazan at the briefing on Monday, Mironov pointed out that the aircraft presently in use had been in service for long and might be affected by metal fatigue. “Boeing is surely a good company, but passengers’ safety is the main thing,” he said.

He pointed to the established practice of buying foreign-made aircraft that had already been used in foreign countries. “It would be good if Russian companies placed orders for highly reliable domestic-made aircraft,” said the MP.

Mironov expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

The Boeing 737-500 airliner of the Tatarstan air company on Moscow-Kazan flight crashed past Sunday when making the landing approach. It had 44 passengers and six crew on board. All of them died.
