MOSCOW, October 21 (Itar-Tass) -- Total of three airborne assault brigades of the Russian Ground Troops have been resubordinated for the purpose of pooling all the air mobile forces in the country under a unified command and setting up a rapid deployment branch of troops, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, the commander of the troops said Monday.
"In the first phase, we'll have to incorporate them in the Airborne Troops, to assess their combat capability, to decide together with the General Staff on when and where these units should brought into action, and to place them on the tables of equipment and materiel procurements of the Airborne Troops," Gen Shamanov said.
