Lavrov may visit Morocco, other countries in Middle East, North Africa before end of this year

RHODES (Greece), October 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov may visit Morocco and other countries in the Middle East and North Africa before the end of this year, Russian presidential special envoy for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said here on Thursday.

“It is not ruled out that the minister can visit Morocco before the end of this year. We hope for a meeting at the top level, including with the king,” the Russian high-ranking diplomat said. “It is not ruled out that other visits will be paid,” he noted.

“We and our Middle Eastern partners are maintaining very active contacts,” he added. “We expect that the deputy prime minister and the foreign minister of Kuwait will visit Moscow soon. We agreed to hold the third round of the Strategic Dialogue between Russia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. We hope that this event will take place before the end of the year,” Bogdanov noted.
