Zhukovsky air show to mark 100th anniversary of Russian Air Force

Leading aerobatics pilots will perform during 3-day event outside Moscow

 

Pilots have been rehearsing for the main celebration, set to take place at Zhukovsky airfield outside Moscow. A 3-day air show this year will mark the 100th anniversary of Russian Air Force. Vintage fighter planes will be taking to the skies, and leading aerobatics pilots from around the world will be spectacular stunts. The celebration falls on August 11-12 (the anniversary itself is August 12), and includes a historical air show, Legends of World Aviation, featuring reconstructed and replica aircraft from the times of WWI and WWII.

Over 110 airplanes and helicopters will be involved in the show overall. Leading aerobatics pilots from France, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Italy and Finland will took part in the event. “Red Arrows” of Great Britain will perform for the first time since 1990. Famous Russian teams “Vityazi” and “Strizhi” will close the show.
